KWD’s quality system was established in the early 1980s to the requirements of MIL-I-45208, and progressed to the company’s certification for ISO 9001:2000 and 9001:2008.  Its long-term quality planning includes migration of its quality system to AS9100 within the next two years to broaden the scope of KWD’s core business.

Manufacturing Capabilities

  • Machining


    KWD's 3,800 square foot machine facility offers close tolerance CNC and conventional vertical/horizontal machining. KWD craftsmen machine a variety of materials, such as aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, phenolic, plastic, free machining steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and composites, into the parts and products that aerospace industry customers require. The design of its facility and selection of equipment allow KWD to effectively perform on small prototyping and large production runs.
  • Welding


    KWD's 14,000 square foot aluminum and steel weld facilities offer welding processes certified to stringent AWS, OEM and military welding codes and specifications. Its highly skilled certified craftsmen and state-of-the-art equipment provide GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding of aluminum, stainless steels, alloy steels and structural steels. The control of these processes is confirmed by in-house NDT/NDI techniques and overseen by company certified weld inspectors.
  • Cutting


    KWD's 3,600 square foot cutting facility offers precision water jet cutting, sheering, punching, notching, coping, saw cutting, tube bending and deburring. This high volume facility is manned by experienced craftsmen outputting bundled tube and bar cutting, as well as highly accurate, digitally programmed water jet shapes cut out of plate and sheet.

    KWD's 9,600 square foot state-of-the-art paint facility houses three paint booths: one 40'x16' drive-through enclosed cross-draft Binks paint booth with a 5,000 pound capacity overhead parts rail system, one 14'x24' enclosed temperature and humidity-controlled cross draft paint booth, and one open-faced small parts cross-draft booth. Our highly experienced applicators apply epoxies, polyurethanes, and lacquers, meeting stringent military and aerospace finishes.

    Sheet Metal

    KWD's 3,600 square foot sheet metal facility houses a 160 ton 12' press brake, an 80 ton CNC press brake, a 4' x 1/4" sheer, and numerous sheet metal working tools. This facility allows KWD to fabricate highly complex sheet metal assemblies, supporting our aircraft interior and general product lines.
  • Assembly and Packaging

    Assembly and Packaging

    KWD's 3,600 square foot final assembly and packaging facility is operated by highly skilled assemblers with numerous years of experience assembling and packaging its product line. Its crating and packaging products are certified under the International Paper Products Convention (IPPC) and exceed the requirements in MIL-STD-2073.
